Specialty Blood Work & Lab Tests

Annual wellness exams and healthy preventive lifestyle habits are the best proactive measures to identify and minimize health risks before chronic illnesses start to develop. Adding lab tests to annual exams is an often overlooked component of a thorough evaluation. The blood holds many of our secrets and having labs run to check some essential markers each year can make an enormous difference in your health, wellness, and peace of mind.

Dr. Hobie has extensive expertise in providing a detailed analysis and diagnosis using the results of blood tests. Here are the most common labs we recommend:

Broad Thyroid Panel:

It’s important to look deeper than just TSH and total T4 levels to get an accurate assessment of thyroid function. Free T3, Free T4, Total T3, Reverse T3, anti Thyroglobluin Ab, and anti TPO Ab will help us get a more thorough evaluation and diagnosis of vital imbalances.

Essential Nutrients: Our blood levels of Vitamin B12, vitamin D, iron, and magnesium are essential to how our body is able to function. For many different reasons, large numbers of the population are deficient in these nutrients, and sometimes we need to look deeper than supplementation alone in order to regain optimal nutrient levels. When we allow nutrient deficiencies to linger, we put ourselves at risk for weakened organs, bones, and overall system functions.

Complete Blood Count and Metabolic Panel:  These two blood tests provide a clear picture of electrolyte balance, system hydration, liver & kidney function, and blood cell values. Additionally, they help us identify underlying acute or chronic infections, anemia, and blood clotting issues.

Inflammatory Markers: These labs include C-reactive protein (CRP) and homocysteine levels. Elevated levels in these areas could indicate that there’s an ongoing inflammatory response. Many things from emotional stress, physical trauma, allergies, environmental toxicities, and food sensitivities could affect these markers. When we’re able to examine the lab results on an annual basis, then we can more easily identify what’s going on beneath the surface.

Additional areas we specialize in testing:

  • Hormones: Cortisol, Testosterone, DHEA, Estradiol, and Progesterone.
  • Food Sensitivities: Delayed Food Sensitivity, RAST Tests
  • Candida (fungus): Antibody Testing
  • Tick Borne Illness: Lyme Western Blot & Co-Infections with Igenex
  • General Health: Fasting Lipids, Glucose, hemoglobin A1c(HgA1C)
  • Parasites
  • And more, just ask us!

Adding blood testing to your annual exams can be an empowering way to have a more detailed assessment of your overall health and to catch imbalances in early stages.
