DIGESTIVE & GUT HEALTH THERAPY | Vermont
Serving patients in Colchester, Burlington, Essex, Winooski and beyond
The digestive tract plays an important role in our nutrient absorption as well as the daily detoxification process our bodies go through. The more we’re able to support and balance the gut microbiome (a complex assembly of diverse bacteria within the digestive tract), the easier it is to keep a high-functioning immune system, a reduction in tissue inflammation, the ability to absorb high levels of micronutrients, and an overall boost to the clearing of toxins…..which is an absolutely essential system-function for optimal health.
We face countless exposures to toxins on a daily basis: industrially farmed foods, plastics, petro chemicals, skin lotions and soaps, air fresheners, vehicle exhaust, etc. These things affect everything from our skin to our ability to fight off infection. Our bodies are designed to detoxify every day…..but when we take in more toxins than we’re able to remove, our detox pathways become burdened…..and that’s when we can begin to see symptoms of a system that’s overcompensating.
While it’s important to support the entire detoxification pathway (liver, kidneys, digestive tract, lymphatic system, respiratory system, and skin), attention to the absorption/elimination system (aka: the gut) is often the first step in both prevention and correction of many acute and chronic conditions.
At Preventive Medicine we will go through a comprehensive health and lifestyle evaluation with you, and immediately address your most concerning symptoms before we make a more in-depth focused plan. Together, we’ll create the most effective protocol for you to address the underlying cause of a sluggish detox pathway and compromised gut health. Any of these conditions can be turned around, and oftentimes with relatively simple, targeted nutrition adjustments that support the body’s innate inclination to heal.
Our therapeutic protocols and specialized integrative osteopathic care excel in restoring gut health and improving symptomatic imbalances.
No matter what you’ve been through, what you’ve been told, or the roadblocks you’ve experienced, there is a way to feel better and heal from the inside out. Come in and see us!
