Mindfulness Oriented Recovery Enhancement

Enhance Emotional Well-being

In a time when stress and anxiety often cloud our days, Group Medical Visits (GMVs) offer us a sanctuary and structure to navigate the effects the world can leave on us. At their core, GMVs represent a unique approach to healthcare, one where you’re not just a listener but an active participant, sharing your journey, learning from others, and understanding more about yourself. In essence, GMVs offer a pathway to emotional well-being that is both scientifically grounded and deeply human, providing a rare opportunity to transform your health journey from a solitary endeavor into a shared voyage of discovery and healing. In the 8-week group medical visit sessions at Preventive Medicine, you’ll experience the transformative benefits of Mindfulness-Oriented Recovery Enhancement (M.O.R.E).

Mindfulness-Oriented Recovery Enhancement

The highly-researched and evidence-based practices of M.O.R.E. will be the cornerstone framework within our group medical visits. The innovative approach of M.O.R.E. was developed by Dr. Eric Garland and it interweaves mindfulness meditation, the art of savoring positive experiences, positive psychology, and the Cognitive Behavioral Therapy approach of Reappraisal. Together, we will learn how to reclaim joy, foster a deeper sense of connection to the present moment, and cultivate an enduring resilience in the face of life's inevitable challenges. Each week will build upon the last, gently enhancing both mental and emotional well-being by learning to break free from the automatic responses to stress and discomfort that often take over our minds.

Some specific benefits of M.O.R.E include:

  • Reduction of PTSD symptoms
  • Reductions in cravings
  • Increased experiences of pleasure
  • Connection to a sense of deeper meaning in life
  • Easier access to more positive emotional states
  • Improved heart rate variability (body copes with stress/anxiety better)
  • Reduce feelings of depression
  • Reduced experiences of pain

“I have witnessed the transformative power of the M.O.R.E approach to recovery, chronic pain, and stress. It allows people to step back from their own cycle of negativity and break habitual thought patterns that can characterize mental health challenges. I have seen people renew their sense of self, experience more joy and less despair through their days, and find purpose again. I’m really excited to be offering M.O.R.E. group medical visits at Preventive Medicine.”
